New to Dreamwidth

Hey everyone! My name is Leslie but I'm usually called Lilith online. Either works. I used to be on LiveJournal for years then fell away once Facebook became a thing. I am venturing back to LJ and I will also be posting here as well. I remember having really great connections on LJ and I am hoping to find that again.

Name:

Leslie aka Lilith. Either is fine.

Age:

45. I've always been an old soul and now my body is catching up.

I mostly post about:

I don't know yet. I think it's going to be mostly a diary kind of thing where I talk about my life and thoughts and dreams and goals and the nice stuff and the bad stuff. A little bit of everything that makes me ... me.

My hobbies are:

theater, acting, directing, doing tech, art, singing, writing, photography, anything NASA (I go to the Space Center a lot), thrifting, true crime, documentaries

My fandoms are:

Anything Broadway, Marvel, Wicked, paranormal shows, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Taylor Swift, etc

I'm looking to meet people who:

Are chill. Some things should be serious about some things, but also a sense of humor is great. I am very "woke" though. Please be aware I am "woke". I am also disabled and will talk about my illness and disability issues. And I am mom of an nonverbal son who is autistic and those subjects will come up. I am adult too so I'll bring up adult issues as well, like sex.

My posting schedule tends to be: daily/weekly/monthly/sporadic/etc

My goal is to post at least weekly, maybe twice a week. My illness can throw me for a loop and suddenly I can't sit up some days. So, it depends on my spoons.

When I add people, my dealbreakers are:

If you are conservative. We just won't connect or agree on things, and I am at the point in my life that I want peace. It's better to just move along. I'm also not Christian but I do have Christian friends, but I am not into Christian Nationalism. If you are, we won't be a good fit. I identify as pagan/witch. I'm also LGBTQIA+ and have a trans son.

Before adding me, you should know: I am unapologetically myself. I can be a strong personality and I will always say if I disagree with someone, but I won't be rude about it unless I am needing to match energy being thrown at me.

What's up?

Hi folks, I hope you all are doing well. Not good at doing these intro things, but I'll give it a try. I'm Lesley. I'm in my late thirties, happily married and I have one cat child. I love books of all types, I'm currently making my way through the Dungeon Crawler Carl books, Tv shows including The Golden girls, How I met your Mother, Grace and Frankie and others. I love all kinds of music, and I enjoy baking. I welcome people of all backgrounds and stuff, I'm a Christian myself. as for what I write about in here, To be honest, there's only one entry in here, but I plan on changing that. I will most likely write about daily life things, and sometimes about what I'm watching/reading/listening to as well as mental and physical health stuff. I am totally blind, so sometimes I will write about that. If there is anything else you wanna know, feel free to take a peak at the profile. I will be writing in here probably every few days to every week. Depends on the mood I'm in. I hope all of you have a good day, and if you celebrate them, happy holidays

Interest Check: Visual Kei Song Reccs Comm

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

I was just wondering if there's anyone here, followers, mutuals, passers-by alike, who would be interested in a community where we share and comment on vkei* songs + MVs, and nothing else? No general discussion, because I shouldn't be allowed to moderate that. Touching the conversations I imagine could happen would be like touching hot coals, but if we stay laser-focused on discussing the music then it's fine. At the very least, there will likely be a monthly thread where people can ask for personalized reccs!

The more I think about the comm the more ideas I have for it in terms of little events/challenges and such, so yea. I got the idea because a server I'm in has a channel where people post music, but it irks me how fast it goes and how there's no organization, so for this comm I want songs/MVs to be tagged with the subgenre (ex. kurofuku, tanbi, kote, menhera) and sound (ex. rock, metal, punk, electronic). If the poster is unsure which tags to use they won't have to tag anything, because the mod(s) will do it... Ideally! I don't really know how the specifics of tags in communities work, so we'll see.

If the comm really does happen, then while it's small I can only imagine needing a music-obsessed co-mod for adding/editing sound tags. I'm still learning about genres of music, so while I want everything to be tagged properly I don't trust myself to get the sounds right. However, I don't want just anyone to be able to add tags, because the ensuing arguments might be wild.

Anyways, yea ^_^ Let me know if you're interested or have something else to say. I won't say the number out loud (digitally), but there is a certain amount of positive responses I need before I seriously work on this. And of course if this is a bad idea that everyone hates I would prefer not to waste my time trying it, LOL.

This poll is anonymous.

*The community won't be 100% visual kei. Some of my ideas for events/challenges, both unique and reoccurring, include sharing related scenes and genres. However, I do plan for events where we can share not-vkei songs to be shorter than the ones that are vkei-only. I've thought so much about this.

Seeking New Friends

Name: Georgiana or Georgie. Neither is my legal name, but they are what I use here and in most situations.

Age: Forty-two.

I mostly post about: Entries may consist of anything from short summaries of my day, to surveys, to essays on various topics, to interesting links and quotes that I find, along with my commentary on them. Lately, I have been writing reviews of opera recordings from the 1950's and earlier. I have no interest in politics and modern celebrities. I wish to keep my journal light and happy as much as possible.

My hobbies are: studying dandyism, Received Pronunciation, the Regency, and the Italian language, reading, writing, cooking, baking, playing cards and dice, and enjoying warm weather.

My Other Interests include: coffees, teas, antique menswear and accessories (usually Edwardian), chamber and classical music, old opera singers, plants and gardening, crafts, and history and nature documentaries. I love wit, wordplay, and sarcastic humour without vulgarity. I also love cats.

My fandoms are: I don't have any.

I'm looking to meet people who: are positive, who share my interests and can introduce me to some new ones, and who enjoy at least some elements of high culture. While the minimum age I will add is twenty-one, I tend to get along with those who are older than I, particularly seniors. I am also single and searching, but since this isn't a dating community, I'll just say that you can find more about that in one of the sticky entries in my journal. You can also find my Mastodon and Escargot.chat information there.

My posting schedule tends to be: It varies, from a few posts in a given week to a few in a single day. Often, I post what I call filler entries toward the end of the month. These are entries posted on one date but for another. I try to post a few entries per week.

When I add people, my dealbreakers are: minors (I prefer at least over twenty-one), depression and/or anxiety (posted regularly), bad self-esteem, life drama, recreational drugs, religion or politics (posted regularly), a lot of bad grammar and spelling (unless you're learning English), and frequent obscenities. Please note that I am totally blind, so if you mostly post images, I won't be able to comment on them, as I cannot see them.

Before adding me, you should know: I have no time for political correctness, lies, or drama. While I always try to be civil during discussions, I share my opinion without reservations. If you are easily offended, please do not add me. I have a very dry and witty sense of humour. Otherwise, feel free to read my profile and/or posts and add me if you wish. I will most likely reciprocate. I also comment when I have something to say, but there are times when I don't read my friends' page for awhile, and I am trying to change that.

"Q and A" by ぴーなた

Type: Song
VSynth(s) Featured: Kasane Teto UTAU
Warnings: Cult Imagery

Reccer's notes: Probably one of the more sinister takes on virtual idol character as literal AI/Robot! Several commenters note that the "cult leader" character Teto plays is probably a LLM - albiet one that has, within the fiction of the song, possibly achieved true sapience. (Has it literally taken over a physical body, or is this just how metaphorically conceptualizes its relationship to humans? People using the LLM as a "confession booth" or life advisor, becoming emotionally dependent on it.) Examine elements like the back wall of the church being a circuitboard, the conversations resembling ChatGTP conversations, the four pointed star imagery looking like the logo for Google Gemini, and recurring concepts in the lyrics themselves. Considering how common "megalomaniac AI" has been as a trope in sci-fi for decades now, I'm surprised it took the current "AI" bubble for me to see a vocal synth character portrayed as one.

I'm curious about other people's interpretations of the song and MV!

That's a Wrap!

This morning I read a NYT article about Wrappeds, and almost all the comments were so hostile. God forbid a man like numbers and stats and data.

This will probably be my last Spotify Wrapped (that has a useful amount of data, at least), which makes me kind of sad to think about since 2026 would've been 10 years' worth of Wrappeds for me. Not counting the fact that I totally missed 2018's for some reason. But it's okay... I stay strong... And I have Last.FM, which does their Wrapped in January like a normal year round-up thing should, so it's fine.

This is my 2nd year in a row with the same top 4 artists, although the order is a little shuffled. This is probably my 9th year with MCR in my top 5? (Meaning, they've been there ever since I started using Spotify.) And if memory serves me correctly, this is probably year 4 of having BT, MCR, and Michael Jackson in there. Possibly a little more.

I like how "rock" is lowkey in my top genres twice. Probably three times, since most of the "J-pop" is probably J-rock, which Spotify may tag as both J-pop and rock? I wish they consolidated genres a little better for this, or that I had the option to do so.

For the top song quiz I chose It Never Rains, but it was Ice Cream 💀💀💀 I dunno what I was going through to listen to it almost 200 times. Banger though.

Darlin' made a comeback after 5 years... in 2020 I was obsessed with it, although it was the rerecording I was looping. I like both the mature, improved vocals and younger, grittier vocals. They're each for their own kind of mood.

Ever since really listening to BT in 2019 they've been my #1 top artist, and I've been within their top 1% of fans. I think in 2019 I was within the top 0.1% though... something like that. I'm always worried I'm going to fall from the top percentages, but it hasn't happened yet! I worry about overplaying them and falling out of love too, though! How do I balance this!? Help me!!?!?

"Your club favorites"
>Wu-Tang Clan
>Band I have one liked song from
>Pierce the Veil (valid ig)
>Member of the Wu-Tang Clan
>Another member of the Wu-Tang Clan
>MCR (sadly valid)
Don't piss me off..

As for my role in the Grit Collective, I got "Recruiter - You share music far and wide, bringing in frequent new club members," which made me go "huh" until I remembered I like to send links to one specific guy all the time. Not sure that makes me a good recruiter! Said guy ignores my links half the time anyways TT_TT

Did you know? YouTube, not YouTube Music but regular 'ol Youtube, had a Recap too. This is all that really matters though:

The "sides of you" thing is so funny to me... Too true YouTube. Too true.

Yea, I pretty much only use YT for music and anime OPs and EDs, and sometimes for studying or tutorials. I can't stand video essays. I always think "this could've been a blog post." I can read faster than people can talk, too many people have voices that annoy me or distract me from what they're saying, and I can look for the specific info I need faster with text too. End the reign video essays. Return to WordPress.

Linking my 5 most looped videos in the drop-down.

Boy Do I Love Anime
Put the links into xoutu.be yourself if you hate cookies. <- lazy

#5! I still haven't played this LOL. 2026 for sure!! I watched my friend play a little bit of it, and I think it's cute, but I will always feel :/ towards how Tokimeki Memorial makes it so you Have to get along with Everyone or you DIE. Why tf do I have to date 20 people to date the one I want man. Also the friend characters should be romanceable. But yea, the guy who is obviously the main guy, the blond bad boy, is so cute awwwwww <:3 And this translation is awesome btw, kudos to OP.

#4 is from that time I tried watching the first episode of a bunch of anime I saw girls talking about on older blogs and websites, decided they were all bad and those ladies were just desperate for yaoi, and then never watched episode 2 of any of them. Saiyuuki also has an art style I don't especially like, but the opening is a banger to fun to look at.

#3 is orientalism if it was epic🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Don't ask me anything about this show btw    I don't remember shit but this ending

#2 is holy mother of yaoi
Got called autistic in Washington for watching this constantly for like a week (true and deserved)

#1 is this opening that makes me want to throw rocks at my own head <33333333
It's so misleading LMAO It makes it look like Naruto and Sasuke are besties and like Sakura actually does stuff. But it still makes me feel crazy.
Relevant quote from a locked entry written by myself:
i looked up the first naruto opening on USA cartoon network, and there were quite a few comments saying they really liked it (valid, fair) and that if they had seen the jp opening first they probably wouldnt have watched naruto. this means that the localizers did a good job picking a new opening song and sequence for this new audience, but this also means the average usamerican would rather watch keys jangle then enjoy beauty. SAD! (yes yes, there is beauty to be found even in a set of keys...)

And I'm inlcuding my entire Top Songs list... according to Spotify. If Last.FM does this too, and I think they do? Then it will probably look quite different, because there's lots of songs I listened to that aren't on Spotify, as well as songs I became obsessed with at the end of November and throughout this month.

Don't judge me.

Jesus - Laputa
DARLIN' (Album Version) - D'ERLANGER
It Never Rains (In Southern California) - Tony! Toni! Toné!

Refrain Limit / Drug Habit - Laputa
Dress - BUCK-TICK (helloooooooooo gorgeous 😻)
911 (feat. Mary J. Blige) - Wyclef Jean

I mostly post about: I don't use it to post anything right now, I forgot I had this journal to be honest lol. I am going to turn it into a fandom/graphics blog though, with some other stuff sprinkled in probably. I don't usually post personal stuff online but have no problem discussing it with people in PM/DM if they're interested learning about me, etc..

My hobbies are: Fandom roleplaying (I only play fandom characters, but will rp with fandom or oc characters), gaming (mostly MMO's), reading manga or fanfics, watching anime or anything that catches my interest, getting back into icon/graphic making cuz I miss it, listening to music, watching movies.

My fandoms are: Teen Wolf (MTV show), Trigun Manga/Anime, and various others I'm trying to keep up with lol but those two are my biggest fixations right now.

I'm looking to meet people who: Have the same interests, being near or the same age is not necessary. I have friends from all different age ranges/walks of life.

My posting schedule tends to be: Whenever I have the energy. I work from home due to medical problems, so my hours are roughly 8am-630pm Central Standard time, Mon-Fri. Though I am mostly around a lot of the time.

When I add people, my dealbreakers are: Discrimination, ableism, racism, animal cruelty, transphobia, gay-phobia, bigotry, speaking negatively about LGBTQ+, honestly any of the bad shit lol.

Before adding me, you should know: I am chronically online due to medical issues/being disabled so I am around a LOT. Going to be around even more so due to our work's reduction of hours they're putting into place soon so I'm going to have a LOT of free time coming up to work with lol. I also mostly connect through either Discord or Plurk.

A fun fact about me is that I have a Guinness World Record and a star named after me. :)

The Pain Is Almost Over

The pain of 2025, that is! I'm so excited for the new pain and hardship 2026 will bring!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!

I didn't make one of these last month because ??? I don't know, to be honest. Let's pretend having a job threw off my usual unemployed schedule. So, this entry will cover both October and November.

I need to add this to my bio, but for now I'm putting this here: I type in my dialect on purpose, and if you try to correct it you lose relationship points with me. Thanks for understanding!

Past
In a classic Cici move, I did fuck all all of October. I don't even know why. I just didn't. And my doing nothing that month resulted in all my plans/projects falling through. 1000000000000 such cases. It seems like the only things I accomplished were completing Rhythm Tengoku and Rhythm Heaven (Gold). I watched Blacula and Sinners too, for class, but that's about it.

The Rhythm Heavens™
Both Rhythm Heavens were awesome, do recommend. These are some of my favorite minigames. (I prefer the Fan Clubs in Megamix though.) I will say that the controls for Gold made me want to hurt myself and the people around me sometimes, but that's okay! ^_^

Blacula was okay. Sinners was great! But I never can come up with much to say about movies...

November was my first month on the job and it's pretty darn okay. It's easy money. Unfortunately as a person who is/was 👌🏾 this close to being a hikikomori sometimes the difference is rooooough.

In November, I...
the consumer )
I also finished all my normal school work, so besides Finals Week coming up (which I have never stressed over because I'm a great test taker) I'm done with school 👍🏾 One useless degree coming right up! Finally unsubbed from Spotify too, but I'm not gonna lie, this transition is hurting me. At the tail end of November I started working on a capsule wardrobe, so maybe in January or so I'll post pictures of all the outfit combinations I can make or something? *noncommittal shrug*

Present
I'm................... drawing 🤯 And since I finished Suikoden and dropped Haruka 2, I'm going to end the year with Chrono Trigger and Sakura Taisen. I don't really have plans besides that. Since I'll be spending most of the month freshly graduated, I want to relax for a while before making more unrealistic goals for myself and beating myself up when I fail ^v^

Way too late, I finally put the pieces together and realized that the reason I've drawn so little the past few years (with the sole exception of a little Moment during my sophomore year lol) is because I was too busy with or worried about school, so I'm going to make myself draw for a while and see if I can easily get back into the rhythm of it with no school holding me back.

Future
I'll be free as a bird from the 12th and onwards! You know, if you completely ignore that I have a job and all. I don't have the kind of demons that tell me to get a Master's, LMAO. Or, at least... they're not very loud <:3

I need to make some New Year's resolutions, but I'm not sure how many to have, what I should focus on, or if I should publicly share them to pressure myself into doing them or not. (If I say them publicly it'll hurt harder when I fail.) I know for sure in January I'm continuing my fan translation of that one manga, which I hope to finish within the year.

One thing I know for sure? I'm taking a nap right after I post this. Good night!

I mostly post about:

I write about my learning journey from zero (not really) to masters in Computer Science, with the goal of getting formal admissions into a program under 2 years. I have a lot of IT applied experience, but now I want to be able to master the material and also for myself learn as much as I can about the topics of programming systems, Linux, and math. For math, I really do know very little. I would very much like to improve that.

My hobbies are:

I like to play video games, take walks, and exercise. My favorite games right now are Lord of the Rings Online and Guild Wars. I also play retro games and am going through the Harvest Moon series on the original DS.

My fandoms are:

I don't invest a lot of energy into fandoms. But I like Linux. I think that counts.

I'm looking to meet people who:

Journals about goals, dreams, and ideas. I do enjoy reading about criticisms, first draft essays, and general naval gazing.

My posting schedule tends to be: daily/weekly/monthly/sporadic/etc

Sporadic with a weekly update on what I'm learning.

When I add people, my dealbreakers are:

I want to avoid negative spaces, so if you are constantly ranting about how terrible things are, I understand. I'm going to put a positive energy in my journal.

Look! I remembered to post before December started this year!

Hello, friends! It's about to be December again, and you know what that means: the fact I am posting this actually before December 1 means [staff profile] karzilla reminded me about the existence of linear time again. Wait, no -- well, yes, but also -- okay, look, let me back up and start again: it's almost December, and that means it's time for our annual December holiday points bonus.

The standard explanation: For the entire month of December, all orders made in the Shop of points and paid time, either for you or as a gift for a friend, will have 10% of your completed cart total sent to you in points when you finish the transaction. For instance, if you buy an order of 12 months of paid time for $35 (350 points), you'll get 35 points when the order is complete, to use on a future purchase.

The fine print and much more behind this cut! )

Thank you, in short, for being the best possible users any social media site could possibly ever hope for. I'm probably in danger of crossing the Sappiness Line if I haven't already, but you all make everything worth it.

On behalf of Mark, Jen, Robby, and our team of awesome volunteers, and to each and every one of you, whether you've been with us on this wild ride since the beginning or just signed up last week, I'm wishing you all a very happy set of end-of-year holidays, whichever ones you celebrate, and hoping for all of you that your 2026 is full of kindness, determination, empathy, and a hell of a lot more luck than we've all had lately. Let's go.
